49ers Dolphins Game Preview

All eyes will be on Colin Kaepernick in today’s game against the Miami Dolphins.  After two excellent games in his first two NFL starts, last week’s game against the St. Louis Rams left a bit to be desired.  Some interesting play calling along with inexperience led to a tough loss to the Rams in overtime.  Kaepernick will be looking to recover from last week’s performance.

David Akers has not had the season he had last year.  The Niners have been working out other kickers due to Akers’ struggles.  Harbaugh isn’t beyond changing up kickers if he is changing up quarterbacks.

Also on the radar today will be Aldon Smith.  With Jake Long out for the Dolphins, rookie Jonathan Martin will be lining up at left tackle against Smith.  Smith needs five sacks to break Michael Strahan’s single season record of 22.5 sacks.  Smith has already broken Reggie White’s record of 31 sacks in his first two seasons; Smith has 31.5.

LaMichael James is expected to surface for the 49ers today.  Kendall Hunter’s injury has opened the door for James to dress and possibly get some run time.

The 49ers are looking for redemption after last week’s disappointing loss and Miami doesn’t have much left in the tank.  Home field advantage for the playoffs is on the line for the reigning NFC West Division champs. The line is -10 for the Niners, it’s a big spread, but they should easily cover.
