Brandon Jacobs “appears doubtful” for Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Vikings due to an ongoing knee injury. Jacobs was not wearing pads at Wednesday’s practice and is still rehabbing on a side field. The 49ers have no need to rush Jacobs back to action yet with the strong play of Gore thus far and with Hunter as a solid back up.
In other news, OLB Clark Haggans has been suspended three games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. The suspension stems from a 2011 DUI arrest. It is not a big loss for the 49ers defense, as Haggans has not played in either of the first two games. He’s eligible to return Oct. 8, after the 49ers play the Bills.
